BLOG POST: REVERSE ENGINEERED OBJECT: PROGRESS II]

Here is a quick recap from my last blog. I pick binoculars to take apart and remeasure it to retreat it in Rhino 7. Measuring it was not the easiest because non of it fat nor even, it was all very wanky. Wrote all the measurements and drew all the parts to simplify it to prepare it for Rhino 7.
Using Rhino grid and I spilt up the 4 areas. Top right was my struggle side to go back to. Top Left was my done pile and how I got the shaped and it took up the whole left top and bottom. Right bottom was done spot to set up my exploded image. The middle was my spot to fully combined my Rhino bits together.

My main method of creating was using polyline and then revolving to recreate the round objects.
Most of the middle bits had a screw and spiral bits to fit into each other and it helped the parts to move closer and farther on the real object. One thing I learned was to use the spiral and sweep1 to create the grooves of a screw the object had to be straight up and down on the Z axis.
The first time using the taper command was when I used the Flow command for the first time. One object I had to Flow was a malleable plastic thing that makes the binoculars have grip to hold them without it slipping. It had to be tapered to proper fit over the surface they sit on. For the screw I used taper to make it taper from the shoulder to the narrow top of it.
For the grip and other bits that I did not understand I decided to draw them out and scaled them by using the command scale. To properly scale the images I used polyline to set a measure and scaled the image to the polyline start to end distance.

One thing that I highly struggled with was trying to make 2 parts of the binoculars. One part is what attaches the main cylinders together by the pins and other parts and thee other part is the eye pice. These two parts took up most of the time because they would not line up. Cylinder connectors I ever understood how they made it by simple shapes so I just drew it with longer lines then attached it. For the eye bits I have no idea why they would not merge together. One part I found out that the cruces were at different heights. Rhino kept saying something about lines intersecting and would not join. I did delete and remeasure everything but still it would not do what I wanted it to. I all so struggled to extrude the curves when the shaped did do the shapes things. I have no idea how or why I was struggling so much, I probably just way over thought these two bits of the project.

I definitely spent way to much time on this project and it caused so much stress I did even wanna see it again nor even do this blog because I am so sick of seeing this project. I am super happy that I finished it because I feel super proud of picking this ridiculous item when I have never used Rhino 7 before and making this object a thing on the computer. I thought I took more photos but I have no idea where I put them. I got one more blog post to make about this project and then I am done and free to never see this project of over thinking and struggle ever again. Proud but so done.
